New program called Power Saver Rewards pays Californians to save energy when a Flex Alert is issued.
When it comes to avoiding preventable power outages, we must work together, particularly during an anticipated shortage of energy supply. A Flex Alert is a call for Californians to voluntarily conserve energy when the available power supply is scarce, usually in the summer between the hours of 4-9 p.m. Now you can get rewarded for reducing energy through a new program called Power Saver Rewards.
Power Saver Rewards allows you to earn credits on your electricity bill when you reduce your energy use during a Flex Alert. Although many households are auto-enrolled, it is best to ensure enrollment in the Power Saver Rewards program by joining directly at PowerSaverRewards.org.
By preventing power outages, you’re helping vulnerable community members who are often hurt most by power outages. This includes the elderly, those with disabilities and historically marginalized communities.
Actual Power Saver Rewards savings vary by utility provider. There is no penalty for not reducing your energy use during a Flex Alert.
To find out more about Power Saver Rewards, visit the Information Booth every Thursday at the Oceanside Morning Farmers Market from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and the Oceanside Sunset Market from 5-9 p.m. on Pier View Way, or the Downtown Ambassador Information Booth Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Pier View Way on the west end of the pedestrian underpass.
Cost rewards earned through energy conservation actions during a Flex Alert event will be credited to a future bill statement. To find more details on how cost rewards are calculated and applied to your bill, and additional program details, visit sdge.com/save-day-residential-programs.
