PARKING STUDY
On August 18, 2018, the Oceanside City Council approved a Professional Services Agreement (PSA) with Dixon Resources Unlimited of San Diego for the preparation of a Downtown Parking Study and Action Plan.
The Downtown Parking Study and Action Plan will address issues such as hourly and permit parking, paid parking rates, parking management and parking rates for existing and future parking structures, and future wayfinding solutions. The consultant will work with City staff to establish an ongoing outreach initiative involving stakeholder groups such as MSO, business owners, and the public throughout the plan development.
Downtown will continue to change dramatically in the next 3-5 years and the consultant will be asked to develop an ongoing action plan or "roadmap" approach to best serve the City's needs for the short term during construction and long term for when the downtown area is built out. A staggered rollout of parking strategies as development evolves is considered the best approach to the current situation.
MSO is supportive of this approach due to the ever changing conditions. It is anticipated that the data collection, community outreach process and subsequent analysis and document preparation will take seven (7) to nine (9) months to complete.
The Downtown Parking Study will not address the Residential Beach Parking Permit Program.
