Since Oceanside is a Southern California beach community, the time around the Independence Day Holiday is very busy for the City of Oceanside and especially the Oceanside Police Department. The Oceanside Independence Parade requires the assistance of many City departments from Public Works to the Police Department. Each year the parade Committee consults with the City of Oceanside officials to determine an appropriate date for the parade.

 

Not staging the Independence Parade on the 4th of July has the added benefit of allowing certain parade participants like the 1st Marine Division Band to participate every year. Furthermore, we have found through experience that many of our participants and volunteers would prefer to share the actual 4th of July holiday with their family and friends.

We know this is confusing and disappointing to some, but we hope you will join us each year for the best Independence Parade in North County!
