Come and see Oceanside as it was in the beginning…poster-size historic photographs depicting Oceanside’s historical past can be viewed in the vacant storefront windows in the core downtown. This short walking tour takes approximately 45-60 minutes and begins in the lobby of the Wyndham Pier Resort located at 333 North Myers Street. See the many faces of Oceanside’s pier and beaches and the “Top Gun” house when it was built in 1887. Pick up a flyer at the Wyndham, Regal Cinema lobby, MainStreet Oceanside, or the California Welcome Center and start walking! This is a Joint Venture project by the City of Oceanside Economic and Community Development Department and the Oceanside Historical Society.
City staff worked closely with local historian, John Daley, who was instrumental in selecting and reproducing these photographs. For additional information regarding the history of Oceanside visit the Oceanside Historical Society at 305 North Nevada Street on Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or call 760-722-4786.
